Who is New Beginnings designed for?
We are designed for those that are seeking to discover more about the
impact of Jesus Christ on God’s world. Our responsibility as a church
is to provide a process to worship God and honor Him through all that
we do. Our calling is the spiritual development of people through
education and relationships that equip them to be the person God
created them to be.

The Lord’s Prayer you use seems different from the one’s I’ve always
said growing up. Why?
The Lord’s Prayer we use in worship is not any
different from the one you grew up with or from what you’ll find in Matthew 6:9-13,
except that we use the modern translations for the wording. This to assist people
who are completely unchurched. An unchurched person will understand that they
need forgiveness from sin, but could find it strange that we would be asking
God to forgive us of our trespasses. Today we use the word “trespass” to describe
what we do on the neighbor’s property. A new Christian also might struggle over
the phrase “forgive us of our debts,” as that term is most often used today to refer
to our finances and credit cards. If you think about it, we tend to use lots of
words around church that we assume people will know. We try to avoid this pitfall
at New Beginnings.
-
How am I expected to dress at New Beginnings?
Be comfortable and respectful, our dress tends to be more casual.
Don’t get caught up in what you are wearing or what the person sitting
next to you is wearing. We are just glad you are here to worship.

Where does the word Methodist come from?
When John Wesley started
the Methodist movement in England, the other students at Oxford University made
fun of his disciplined life-style and prayer habits. They called his group
the “Methodicals.”
-
What are a few basic Methodist beliefs?
We are a Protestant Christian
denomination that has a very practical way of going about things. We believe
the traditional, basic Christian beliefs, such as that Jesus is our Lord and
Savior, that God comes to us as Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, and that the Bible
is a gift from God that guides and inspires us. We believe that all people
fall short of the glory of God, are in need of forgiveness, and that all
stand in need of God’s grace. We believe that God is active in our lives
and that being a Christian is a life-long growth process.
-
I’ve been baptized in another church. Would I need to be baptized in a
Methodist Church?
If you were baptized in another Christian denomination, then we
honor and celebrate that baptism. If you joined New Beginnings, you would
simply be transferring your ministry as a Christian from one church to another.
Methodists do not believe that we are the ONLY way to Jesus Christ, and we work
alongside – not against – the other Christian churches.
-
Who can take communion at New Beginnings?
The Methodist Church opens the table up to anyone who sincerely wishes to be
forgiven of sins and be nourished by God’s grace. Also, we always
uses some form of non-alcoholic grape beverage instead of wine, so that
recovering alcoholics can feel safe in participating. By the way: Mr. Welch
was a British Methodist who wanted to be able to take communion without the
alcohol, so he invented grape juice.
-
What is the long-term plan for New Beginnings?
On the easel in the entrance hall is the master plan for the property
that shows how we hope we’ll grow. Of course, buildings though are only
needed to house ministries for people. So see in the future facilities
the dreams of people’s lives being changed.

How do I join New Beginnings?
Just let the pastor know, and he’ll be glad to assist you. There is some
paper work the office likes to get, and Ken will want to be sure you’ve
had a chance to ask any questions before hand.
