At New Beginnings we welcome all who seek God’s grace and want to experience God’s life-changing presence in their lives. We welcome people of diverse backgrounds and worldviews and believe that the Church is big enough for people with different ideas and opinions. Still, there are some essentials that we believe and hold firm.

These Essentials, We Believe:

The God of the Bible is the only true God, infinite in power, wisdom and goodness. God reveals himself as the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

The Father is the creator. As he once created the world, God continues to guide the world and intervene in it. He is infinite in grace, mercy, and love and invites all people to live life in a relationship with him through his Son Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ is truly and completely God and truly and completely man, the perfect and inseparable union of the divine and human natures. He is the Son of God made flesh, born of the Virgin Mary by the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. On the third day God resurrected Jesus from the dead. After his time on earth, Jesus returned to heaven where he carries our concerns to God. Jesus will return at the end of this age to judge every person and establish his eternal Kingdom. Jesus’ sinless life, death, and resurrection provide the way of salvation.

The Holy Spirit is truly God and is equal with the Father and the Son. The Holy Spirit is present in the world to make people aware of their sin and of God’s grace. The Holy Spirit guides people to faithful response to the gospel and lives in every Christian. The Holy Spirit lives within the Church and empowers the Church to continue Jesus’ earthly ministry. The Holy Spirit also lives within each believer and enables believers to live a fruitful Christian life. Through the Holy Spirit God is always with us and always at work in the world.

The Bible, both Old and New Testaments, is the written Word of God. The Bible is God’s written word in that it reveals God’s Word made flesh – Jesus Christ. Inspired by God and written by human authors through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the Bible is God’s self-revelation of all that is necessary for salvation and Christian growth. It is the guide, primary source, and final authority for faith and teaching.

People are made in the image of God and are the supreme object of God’s creation. Since the fall of humanity, all people are born with an attitude of rebellion toward God called sin. Sin separates people from God. This corruption is so pervasive that people are not capable of a positive response to God in and of themselves. Despite this natural sinfulness, all human beings are born with a yearning for God. People often attempt to fill this yearning themselves, but only through the work of God can people be saved from the corruption of sin and restored to the relationship with God that God has intended for us.

The Church is made up of all believers in Jesus Christ. The church is one body with many parts, transcending all human barriers. The Church is God’s gift to humanity where people are called to live fully for God in a community of fellow believers for conversion, Christian growth, and communal ministry.

God offers people forgiveness through Jesus Christ’s death on the cross, the perfect sacrifice for the sins of the whole world. Forgiveness cannot be earned through good works, self-improvement, or religious ceremony. It is a gift for all people who repent of their sin and trust in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness. This free gift of grace restores people to a right relationship with God and allows people the freedom to experience the power of God in their lives. This is the experience of salvation – the human response to God’s offer of an eternity in perfect communion with God and all those whom God has saved.
